Deep Skin Cleansing: Understanding Scrubbing
When we think of deep skin cleansing, scrubbing is often the first thing that comes to mind. Scrubbing is effective in reducing tan, blackheads, and whiteheads. However, excessive scrubbing can strip the skin of its natural moisture, making it overly dry. Many people unknowingly use the wrong scrub for their skin, which can do more harm than good. That’s why it’s crucial to choose a scrub based on your skin type.
What is a Scrub?
A scrub is a skincare product designed to remove dirt and dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. It helps even out the skin tone and improves skin texture.
Facial scrubs generally come in two types: Physical scrubs and Chemical scrubs.
Physical Scrubs contain tiny exfoliating beads in a creamy texture. These beads help remove impurities and dead skin cells from the pores instantly. This type of scrub is known as manual exfoliation. It minimizes pores and smooths the skin.
Chemical Scrubs contain exfoliating agents like AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) or BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) that penetrate the skin and remove dead skin cells. A major advantage of chemical scrubs is that they can be mixed with masks or creams or applied directly with a cotton pad. These scrubs are often recommended for acne-prone skin as they help reduce dark spots and hyperpigmentation along with exfoliation.
How to Use a Scrub Correctly
Start by washing your face with a cleanser to remove dirt and oil before scrubbing.
On slightly damp skin, take a small amount of scrub and massage it gently in circular motions for 30-45 seconds. Avoid applying too much pressure, as it may cause micro-tears and skin irritation.
Rinse off with lukewarm or normal water and follow up with a moisturizer to prevent dryness.
Use a scrub 1-2 times a week for the best results.
Skincare innovations are not just trends but also a necessity, considering environmental and lifestyle changes. Facial scrubbing has gained popularity due to its multiple benefits. When used correctly, it leaves the skin soft and smooth. However, it’s best to start scrubbing after a certain age to support skin development properly. Healthy skin enhances self-confidence, so take care of your skin and let your beauty shine!
