Skin Care for Men

We all have a common misconception that skincare is only necessary for women. But doesn’t age or environmental changes affect men’s skin too? Of course, it does! Men’s skin is no exception. Skincare is essential for everyone, regardless of age or gender. The skincare products available in the market are designed keeping both men and women in mind. Some products have specific labels indicating who should use them, while others can be used by anyone, regardless of gender. A basic skincare routine is always the best option for maintaining healthy skin.

Let’s take a look at what a good skincare routine for men might look like!

Face Cleansing

The first and most effective method of skincare is face cleansing. Due to work, most people spend a lot of time outdoors, where exposure to UV rays, sweat, dirt, and dust can cause tanning and dullness on the skin. That’s why it’s essential to wash your face at least twice a day using a suitable cleanser or face wash.

In this case, you can use a face wash enriched with Charcoal, Vitamin C, Hyaluronic acid, or Aloe Vera. However, it’s important to choose a face wash that suits your skin type. If you are undergoing any skin treatment or medication, always consult a doctor before using any new product.

Skin Exfoliation

To remove dirt and impurities from the skin, exfoliation should be done at least 1-2 times a week. There are two types of skin exfoliation: chemical and physical. For chemical exfoliation, ingredients like salicylic acid and glycolic acid can be used. On the other hand, physical exfoliation can include apricot scrubs, jojoba beads, or brown sugar in your routine. While scrubbing, avoid excessive pressure, as it can cause skin irritation. After washing your face with a cleanser, dampen your skin slightly, gently rub for 30-45 seconds, and then rinse off. This helps make the skin soft and radiant.

Use of Facial Serum

Many people think that serums are only for women, but they are formulated for both men and women. Free radical damage can lead to large pores, excessive sebum production, and uneven skin tone. A serum can be an effective choice to reduce these issues. After cleansing and toning, apply the serum by dabbing it onto the skin.

Moisturizer

Moisturizer is essential to retain skin hydration. Men’s skin texture is generally thicker compared to women’s, so it is important to use a suitable moisturizing cream or lotion to keep the skin soft and glowing. Not all moisturizers suit every skin type, so choose one according to your skin type. Using too much moisturizer can make the skin oily, so apply an appropriate amount after using a serum. To enhance skin hydration and elasticity, include skincare products containing hyaluronic acid, glycerin, aloe vera, and niacinamide.

Sunscreen

Many people complain about skin tanning or darkening, which is mainly caused by not using sunscreen. The sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays damage the skin from within, leading to tanning, premature wrinkles, and fine lines.

To protect the skin from harmful UV rays, apply sunscreen 15-20 minutes before stepping outside. If possible, reapply every two hours.

For those who ride bikes or cars, applying SPF-infused lotion to the hands and feet can help protect all exposed areas, just like the face.

Skincare needs vary with age, but taking care of your skin is essential for both men and women. Proper and consistent care ensures healthy skin. Keep up with your skincare routine for beautiful, well-nourished skin!
